Story
Released from prison, Lang returns to his hometown in northwest China. As part of a dog patrol tasked with clearing out stray dogs ahead of the 2008 Olympics, he bonds with a black stray dog.

The drama, directed by Hu Guan, is set in China, so it’s no wonder it won the top honor in the Un Certain Regard section at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The story revolves around a guy who, after a stint in prison, returns home and sets out to rid the city of stray dogs in time for the Olympics.

However, he unexpectedly bonds with the black dog, and they set off on a new adventure. The film’s canine star took home the canine award earlier in the day, when he won the Palm Dog Grand Jury Prize!
